More Than One-Third of New York Workforce Perished

Firm's 20th Anniversary of Tragedy Remembered

NEW YORK, NY (SEPTEMBER 8, 2021) - Keefe Bruyette Woods Inc. lost 67 employees in the 9/11 terrorist attacks, more than one-third of its New York workforce. The firm's offices were located on the 88th and 89th floors of the World Trade Center's 2 World Trade Center tower.

On the morning of September 11, 2001, a group of about 20 Keefe Bruyette Woods employees took refuge in a conference room on the 87th floor as the World Trade Center was attacked. They remained trapped for several hours before being rescued.

The firm's losses were a devastating blow to its employees and their families. In the years since the attacks, Keefe Bruyette Woods has established a scholarship fund in memory of its lost employees and has worked to support the families of the victims.

The 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks is a time for remembrance and reflection. We remember the lives lost and the courage of those who survived. We also recommit ourselves to fighting terrorism and protecting our freedom.
